Hair is formed from the base of the hair follicles called the papilla, when cells convert amino acids into a protein called the keratin.
The conversion of this amino acid into keratin will determine the degree of hair growth. There are several reasons due to which this conversion may be reduced leading to thinning of hair and ultimately hair loss.
Hair loss may be due to improper diet, hereditary, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, stress etc. Symptoms of hair loss are excessive falling of hair, & complete hair loss in certain portions of the scalp. Vigorous Rubbing Of Scalp
One of the most effective techniques to prevent hair loss would be to rub the scalp vigorously and activate the sebaceous glands of the scalp and improve the blood circulation which will facilitate hair growth. This can be done with the help of fingers running vigorously on the scalp in all directions till the scalp and fingers feel warm. It is advisable to do this after washing your hair with cold water only as hot water further removes the nutrients from the hair.
Diet
Since improper diet with lack of nutrients and vitamins is the major cause of hair loss, eating proper food will help to cure and prevent it. Food rich in vitamin B6, C and folic acid should be eaten in large quantities as the lack of these vitamins reverse hair growth. These vitamins are found in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, nuts and grains.
Eggs, oils like flaxseed oil, salmon oil are rich in proteins and should be taken on daily basis. Iron rich foods like jiggery, apples and beetroot should be a must in meals. Diet rich in nutrients and vitamins strengthen the roots of the hair and prevent loss of hair. It also improves the texture of the hair.
Egg
The egg as a whole is useful in strengthening roots of the hair. Egg yolk mixed with honey can be applied on the scalp and left for half an hour before washing. Egg white of the raw egg can be applied on the scalp and allowed to stay there for 30 mins. Alternatively, egg white can also be mixed with lemon juice and applied on the scalp.
Oil Massage
Massaging of the scalp with warm coconut, olive or castor oil before hair wash can also strengthen the roots and prevent hair loss.
