Ex-Super Eagles Star, Mikel Obi Set To Join Al Ain In Dubai - Agrees Personal Terms

Chelsea FC midfielder John Mikel Obi has agreed personal terms with United Arab Emirates giants Al Ain, according to AfricanFootball.com.

The report, which quotes agent of the Nigeria international, Babawo Mohammed, claimed Mikel was in Dubai to thrash out contract terms with the club in the past week.

“Mikel has agreed personal terms with Al Ain and is now left for Chelsea and the Dubai club to agree on a transfer fee,” Mohammed is quoted as saying.

The mother of 16-year-old boy Lekan Isiaka, a victim of severe domestic abuse in the hands of his father, has rebuffed every attempt to get her involved in her son’s issue. Saturday PUNCH reported last week that Lekan suffered series of physical abuses in the hand of his father, Monsuru,which led him to have seizures and a dislocated shoulder.

Saturday PUNCH attempted to contact her through the phone number of her new husband, a furniture maker in Ibadan, to inform her about Lekan’s situation but the man, who would not identify himself, has only repeated that “she is out of town.”

Nine Pregnant Girls Arrested In Enugu After Police Raided Baby Factory


The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday raided a “baby factory” and arrested nine pregnant girls in the process.

The operation, carried out by the 9th Mile Division of the Nigeria Police Force, took the police to a baby factory located within Etiti Amankwo Ngwo of 9th mile, Udi local government Area of Enugu state.
The factory is allegedly being owned and operated by one Ikechukwu Onoh of Etiti Amakwo Ngwo.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says David De Gea isn't irreplaceable and has backed the club to find a replacement if he departs.

Goal understands the Spaniard has told the Red Devils that he wishes to join Real Madrid after failing to agree a new contract with Louis van Gaal's side.

Marquez to miss two Copa matches


Central defender Rafael Marquez will miss Mexico's two remaining Group A matches at the Copa America through injury, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) said.

The experienced 36-year-old suffered an injury to his left thigh during Mexico's 0-0 draw with Bolivia on Friday and misses Monday's clash with hosts Chile and the match against Ecuador on Friday.

"The estimated recovery period for this kind of lesion is seven to 10 days," the FMF said in a statement on Saturday.

Marquez, Mexico's captain at four World Cups including Brazil last year, is leading a second string team in Chile without leading players Carlos Vela, Javier Hernandez and Giovani Dos Santos.

Former Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has ended the uncertainty surrounding his expected nomination as the new coach of AC Milan.

Malawi Flames coach fired


Malawi coach Young Chimodzi has been fired barely a day after losing 2-1 at home to Zimbabwe on Saturday.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) emergency executive committee meeting held in Blantyre on Sunday after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group L defeat, resolved to release Chimodzi and his assistant Jack Chamangwana.

The coaches’ contract ends next month and FAM decided to send them on leave until the expiry of their tenure. The two coaches leave with a record of six wins, five draws and 12 losses in all competition. He won the 2015 Cosafa Plate Division championship in South Africa two weeks ago.
