New roads emerge in Eko Atlantic City

The promise of South Energyx Nigeria Ltd, developers of Eko Atlantic City to construct a congestion-free city that will not guarantee street parking and where traffic will flow freely, has been actualised with the development of main thoroughfares and access road in the upcoming city in Lagos. The Sales and Communications Executive, of Eko Atlantic City, Miss Valentina Halim disclosed this in a press statement.

She added that over the next few months, further road works will be carried out in the City’s districts: The districts include: Harbour Lights, Marina District (inner and outer ring roads), Downtown and Avenue 1 and Avenue 3 (with direct access to Ahmadu Bello Way). The work, according to her, comprises the build-up of the sand sub-base with laying of the crushed stone base course in the more advanced roads.“So far, over 28 kilometres of roads have been completed to stone base level and 25 kilometres have been block paved. Eko Atlantic’s main Eko Boulevard and roads will be a role model for 21st century urban planning,” she said.

She disclosed that the opening of Akin Adesola Road has introduced a second entrance into Eko Atlantic City from Victoria Island. The road has significantly reduce the drive distance for trucks carrying rocks to the sea wall, a mile and a half offshore, helping to speed up construction.

Miss Halim explained that previously, the route from the entrance of Eko Atlantic City to the sea wall was around five kilometres. But the new access has reduced the distance to just two and a half kilometres and further provides unhindered access to the completion of road works in Phases 1 and 2 of the City.

Eko Atlantic City is an emerging city rising on 10 million square metres land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean located beside the popular Bar Beach, along Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
