Eto’o agrees to join Antalyaspor
Former African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto'o has reportedly agreed to move to newly-promoted Turkish Super League side Antalyaspor.
The club confirmed that they have entered into an agreement with Eto'o but the deal has not been signed off just yet.
The snag is that the image rights of Eto'o in Italy still needs to be sorted out.
"We have an agreement with the player. But there are still problems about the player's image rights in Italy. We will solve these problems as soon as possible," said the Turkish club.
Already Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrro believes that the 34-year-old Cameroonian is on his way out just six months after arriving in Italy.
Ferrero described the departure of Eto'o as a man ready to "follow his heart and his wallet."
The ex-Cameroon international has enjoyed one of the most outstanding careers which has seen him turn out for FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Everton.
Eto'o has won two Africa Cup of Nations titles, one Serie A title, three Spanish La Liga titles, an Olympic gold and three Uefa Champions League trophies.
The striker only arrived at Sampdoria in January but could only manage to score two goals in 18 matches for the Blucerchiati.
