Man Utd have not approached Tottenham about Harry Kane

Manchester United have not made an approach to Tottenham for striker Harry Kane, according to Sky sources.

Widespread newspaper reports on Sunday indicated United have contacted Spurs with a view to negotiating a deal for the England forward, but Sky sources have advised that is not the case.

Sky Sports News HQ reporter James Cooper learned last month that Kane was on United’s list of targets but said no negotiations had taken place.

"It is a search for a striker that now includes Harry Kane and that is interesting," said Cooper.

"He is on the list of possible deals that Manchester United might be tempted into doing this summer.

"What Manchester United are doing is looking at all their options. There certainly has been no bid at the moment between Old Trafford and White Hart Lane and no real negotiations at all.

"But what has shifted is that Manchester United have interest in the player. He is under consideration by Louis van Gaal."
