ANDROID users have reason to celebrate with Microsoft announcing Office is now ready and optimised to work on their phones.
With Word, Excel and PowerPoint already available on tablets, Microsoft wanted to complete the Office experience by making it available to Android users across the globe.
Corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team Kirk Koenigsbauer said the technology had been tested for five weeks by a number of preview users.
“With their help we were able to test the apps on over 1,900 different Android phone models in 83 countries,” he said.
“During the preview, we heard from thousands of these users, and over the last few weeks we were able to incorporate a lot of their feedback into the apps we’re launching today.”
Included in the apps are a number of functions such as the ability to perform reviews and edits while on the move, the ability to present PowerPoint wirelessly from the phone and quick access to documents.
In addition the functionality, Microsoft has partnered with over 30 global, regional and local manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, and LG to ensure these apps come as standard with future models.
Alternatively, the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps can all be downloaded for free to be used on your current phone from the Google Play store.
